Description

Newspaper clippings regarding the Jeering Episode, when Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania students were admitted to clinicals at Pennsylvania Hospital in 1869 and were jeered out of the building by male medical students from other area medical schools. Other clippings chronicle the acceptance of women physicians by the profession and the wider society, and document interesting medical cases. Clippings also include obituaries for Ann Preston and Rachel Bodley. Wood annotated a few of the clippings. Twenty-one pages of financial notes follow the scrapbook. Starting from the other side of the volume are fifty-three pages of handwritten math exercises.
